The Garvey sisters are united by the death of their parents and a promise to always protect each other. Sharon Horgan (Eva) is the sister of former Irish rugby player Shane Horgan. Eve Hewson (Becka) is the daughter of U2’s Bono.

Brian Gleeson (Thomas) is the son of actor Brendan Gleeson and brother of actor Domhnall Gleeson. Bad Sisters is brilliantly realized in every detail, starting with its incredibly good script. But it’s also technically excellent, with a great score and cinematography, along with some really good locations.
So we all end up in conflict – brilliant!
The ensemble is fantastic, clearly having a lot of fun with their material and delivering plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, but quite capable of the necessary pathos essential for a show of this nature. Bad Sisters is a true black comedy in every sense of the word – but a likable one – with a rich vein of Irish humour that bubbles to the surface and keeps us invested in the sisters’ fortunes. So even though the girls are up to no good, the question always remains – ‘are they really?’ – because we identify with their situation and the judgements they are forming.
I’m rooting for the Sisters!
If you are an overly sensitive man, i.e. you don’t like it when the worst traits of male behaviour are exposed and a corresponding punishment, … then you really need to watch this show and desensitise yourself, it will do you good and give you some perspective on how everyone else is left in the wake of selfish male rudeness. Good one!
