After a decade away from London, 29-year-old Rona (Saoirse Ronan) returns home to the Orkney Islands. Sober but lonely, she tries to suppress the memories of the events that led her on this journey of recovery. Gradually, the mystical land enters her inner world and – one day – Rona finds hope and strength within herself amidst the harsh wind and persistently cold sea.
